I didn't even notice that it's been over a month without posting on this blog! For the two of you still checking this blog, I have not abandoned it! And I still plan on finishing off that Ukulele Smackdown. But I have not had much time to post here for a while and I've got lots of other things occupying my time, so it may be a bit slow going around here for a little while yet. I'm still playing the ukulele daily, so it's not because I've lost interest or anything.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw a post up on the o'l ghetto blog to show that's it's not abandoned. For those who stop by, have a safe and happy holidays!

Easy way to cure the watch collecting bug: get a Stowa, probably an Airman no logo, perhaps COSC'd, but my Stowas were always accurate enough without it. There you have an auto that just can't be beat IMHO. Sure you can pay more, and you can also get less for the money.
Then for that Hawaiian vibe, get a Bathys. I've got a 100 Fathoms quartz and it's bar none my favorite watch. It was the flash intro at the Bathys site that got me into ukes in the first place.
After that, every watch will be nothing but set dressing, no matter how much more expensive or how many complications they have. If you want to add a chrono, I love the Sinn 356 UTC but their prices just keep going up and up and up.
So a good auto, a cool quartz, and your done. WIS types won't like that, but it's true. :)
As for me, I wanted a Collings concert, so I naturally got a Kanilea Superconcert... as you do. UAS is a hard habit to break.

For what it's worth, I'm an equal opportunity WIS so a thermo-compensated quartz is in my sights. ;-)
I'm also equal opportunity. Autos are cool, manual winds are cool, and quartzes and digital watches are cool.
I'm slumming it a bit right now with a Bathys 100F quartz, an Alba blue stingray diver just to have an auto, and a Timefactors Precista PRS-10.
I had to sell off my beloved 356 UTC, Bathys Benthic, and Stowa Ikaurus to fund UAS. :( But I can blame John Patterson from Bathys for taking the trouble to explain ukes to me and how to pronounce ukulele so that Hawaiians don't laugh at you.
I sold off other stuff, but those are the Stowa and Bathys that hurt the most.
Like you, I'm trying to narrow it down so that the watches get worn, and the ukes get played.
