Checking in

I didn't really realize that I have not posted in almost a month and a half. I guess part of it was that the copyright infringement thing left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. But as it usually goes when the weather heats up, I tend to spend less time on this blog. I also don't really have much to post about at the moment. I have not had UAS for a while, and my Glyph is not done yet. I'm not sure when I will have new pictures of the Glyph but it may be a while as Dave Means ran into some health issues. I hope he is doing better now. I can wait as long as it takes for that uke. I mean, it's already been three years right?

I will also have a new baby boy any time now, so that will mean even less time to post in the near future. We did get a new HD camera not too long ago so maybe I'll try posting some video sometime down the road. So it will be slow going around the Ghetto for a while. It does appear that there are people checking out the contents of this blog though, so that's cool. Hopefully some of the info here is still helpful to people who just found this blog.

I'm still playing my ukes on a daily basis. I'm a uker for life baby! I just figured out one of the songs from Bruce Shimabukuro's album called "On My Way", so that's pretty cool. I have not been learning new songs at a good clip, so hopefully I can get that going a little more. But perhaps that will be a little difficult with a new baby...

Anyway, keep having fun strumming the ukulele. I know I am!

  3. I think I bumped into you while lurking over at WUS. I knew you had to have a Bathys in the collection. It was John Patterson who got me into ukes in the first place. He even told me how to pronounce it so as not to sound like a tourist.

I've sold one watch too many in my UAS quest, but I'm slowly but surely correcting that and enjoying the ride.

Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family!

  4. Ron: Thanks! I'll try to post some pics of my son and a uke soon.

Plainsong: Ha! Yeah, I guess you did see me at WUS. A Bathys with MOP dial was too much for me to pass up, especially since it was supposedly the last one available anywhere. One thing's for sure, WAS is a lot more costly than UAS...:P

  5. Especially if your taste runs to UNs, and mine certainly does. But right now I've only got two autos! Both Seikos, the Alba blue manta (counts as Seiko), and the OM - which I LOVE. My collection used to have Sinns and Stowas, and an MOP Bathys Benthic. I've got to replace the Sinn 356 UTC I sold. That was a keeper. But now I read about the 103 diapal and it's time to think a bit.

And the orange PO will always call to me until I break down and get it, as may the speedy (as an Apollo nut).

And a few others, as you know how it goes.

In the meantime I have a Toshi custom job coming for the Monster. That's also addictive, the strap collecting.

I got a quartz Bathys I'm never selling. It was the last of the ones sold at the 400ish price point. :)

Because the way I see it, uke-wise, I need a grail concert, and a 6 string, and I'm done, time to stop collectin' and start playin'. ;)

(Typepad verification not working, so I had to select anonymous)

  6. LOL! Tell me about the straps! I got (a lot) more straps now than I do ukes! One thing custom straps has over custom ukes is that you don't have to wait forever and a day for them to be completed. :p

I do love UN's, but can't afford one yet. I should probably be done collecting things though. Gotta save up for the kids to go to college!
